Do you have have uniforms?
The DDPB provides every performing member with a uniform upon successfully auditioning in to the band. Some items will be the responsibility of the member.
What about instruments?
Drummers are provided with drums, and pipers receive reeds and pipe chanters from the band inventory.
Do you offer lessons?
As part of the DDPB's community involvement, and to meet the band mission of performances and education to further the Celtic arts, the band provides free piping, drumming and dancing lessons at the weekly practice. DDPB brings in world-class instructors to conduct band workshops in Denver. Many of our pipers are students of International award winning piper John Cairns. We also use his books with our students.
Road Trips!
DDPB has an award-winning competition band that competes at Highland games throughout the US. This involves travel costs such as plane fare, gas and lodging for the members who represent the band, and sponsors, when competing. In addition, DDPB travels to cities outside of Denver to further spread the music of the pipes and drums, and Celtic dances. It is DDPB's policy to assist members with travel expenses whenever possible.
